As in the stellar H-R diagram, a source sequence can be easily identified. In the case of quasars, the main sequence appears to be mainly driven by Eddington ratio. A transition Eddington ratio may in part explain the striking observational differences between quasars at opposite ends of the main sequence. The eigenvector-1 approach opens the door towards properly contextualized models of quasar physics, geometry and kinematics.
