Title: | Operation of a layer-oriented multiconjugate adaptive optics system in the partial illumination regime | Authors: | RADHAKRISHNAN SANTHAKUMARI, KALYAN KUMAR ARCIDIACONO, CARMELO Bertram, Thomas Briegel, Florian Herbst, Thomas M. RAGAZZONI, Roberto |
Issue Date: | 2019 | Journal: | JOURNAL OF ASTRONOMICAL TELESCOPES, INSTRUMENTS, AND SYSTEMS | Number: | 5 | Issue: | 04 | First Page: | 1 | Abstract: | Multiconjugate adaptive optics (MCAO) promises uniform wide-field atmospheric correction. However, partial illumination of the layers at which the deformable mirrors are conjugated results in incomplete information about the full turbulence field. We report on a working solution to this difficulty for layer-oriented MCAO, including laboratory and on-sky demonstration with the LINC-NIRVANA instrument at the Large Binocular Telescope. This approach has proven to be simple and stable. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12386/30107 | URL: | https://www.spiedigitallibrary.org/journals/Journal-of-Astronomical-Telescopes-Instruments-and-Systems/volume-5/issue-04/049002/Operation-of-a-layer-oriented-multiconjugate-adaptive-optics-system-in/10.1117/1.JATIS.5.4.049002.full?SSO=1 | ISSN: | 2329-4124 | DOI: | 10.1117/1.JATIS.5.4.049002 | Bibcode ADS: | 10.1117/1.JATIS.5.4.049002 | Fulltext: | open |
