Issue Date: | 2020 | Number: | SSA-P3-NEO-XXII-SDS-TN1 | Abstract: | The Technical Note 1 is a deliverable of the ESA project SSA-P3-NEO-XXII and it concerns the Work Package 1000 (WP1000) “NEO Observation Concepts for Radar Systems”. The WP1000 is dedicated to the analysis of previous work in the area of NEO observations with radar systems: a review of the literature, data processing techniques and functional requirements. The WP1000 is divided into the sub-packages: - WP1100: Radar Astrometry Overview (responsible: SpaceDys) To study the existing publications on NEO observations with radar systems; to review the techniques for interplanetary radar and data processing; to summarize the state of the art of range/Doppler astrometry, focusing on NEOs and celestial bodies as targets to estimate orbits and related issues. - WP1200: Radar Imaging Overview (responsible: University of Helsinki) To study the existing publications on the techniques for delay-Doppler radar imaging data reduction techniques for NEOs; to review up-to-date 3D shape reconstruction algorithms; to summarize the state of the art of NEO radar imaging and suggest improvements to the existing shape reconstruction algorithms. - WP1300: Functional Requirements (responsible: INAF) To derive the functional requirements of the radar systems to perform observations of NEOs and celestial bodies, for both astrometry and imaging, such as Tx/Rx frequency, bandwidth, pointing and tracking accuracy, transmitted power, time/frequency, the structure of the transmitted waveform (CW, amplitude, frequency and phase modulation, etc.), polarization, antennas location, sensitivity and observables (range, range rate, etc.) resolution and accuracy. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12386/33720 | Fulltext: | reserved |
