The main motivation for such a system is to offer an innovative experience to the public, who can be quite unimpressed after a first glimpse through a telescope, especially under bad seeing conditions, thus increasing their interest in astronomy and possibly revitalizing those telescopes, no longer suitable for scientific purposes but still impressive and evocative. The idea behind IMAGO, the IMAGO prototype design and possible future developments are here described.STAMPAenApplying augmented reality to historical telescopes images: the IMAGO projectConference paper10.1117/12.30188922-s2.0-85206008046https://www.spiedigitallibrary.org/conference-proceedings-of-spie/13100/3018892/Applying-augmented-reality-to-historical-telescopes-images--the-IMAGO/10.1117/12.3018892.shorthttps://api.elsevier.com/content/abstract/scopus_id/852060080462024SPIE13100E..78DING-IND/16 - TECNOLOGIE E SISTEMI DI LAVORAZIONEERC sectors::Physical Sciences and Engineering::PE7 Systems and Communication Engineering: Electronic, communication, optical and systems engineering
