The Gas Pixel Detector (GPD), developed and continuously improved in Italy by Pisa INFN in collaboration with INAF-IAPS, is the only instrument able to perform imaging polarimetry; moreover, it can measure photon energy and time of arrival. In this paper, we report on the performance of a GPD prototype assembled with flight-like materials and procedures. The remarkably uniform operation over a long period of time assures a straightforward operation in orbit and support the high readiness level claimed for this instrument.ELETTRONICOenPerformance of the Gas Pixel Detector: an x-ray imaging polarimeter for upcoming missions of astrophysicsConference paper10.1117/12.22332062-s2.0-85003766077000387731500129https://www.spiedigitallibrary.org/conference-proceedings-of-spie/9905/1/Performance-of-the-Gas-Pixel-Detector--an-x-ray/10.1117/12.2233206.full2016SPIE.9905E..4GMFIS/05 - ASTRONOMIA E ASTROFISICAScienze Fisiche Settori ERC (ERC) di riferimento::PE9 Universe sciences: astro-physics/chemistry/biology; solar systems; stellar, galactic and extragalactic astronomy, planetary systems, cosmology, space science, instrumentation::PE9_17 Instrumentation – telescopes, detectors and techniques
