Abstract
The ASI Science Data Center offers to the scientific users various web services, such as the the Multi-frequency Data Explorer (MDE), allowing to perform a multi-frequency analysis of astronomical sources. This is achieved by using catalogs and astronomical data in different energy bands, present at ASDC and / or invoking external services (NED, SIMBAD, Vizier, the Sloan Digital Sky Survey, etc..), which allow immediate access to spectral, spatial and temporal information and their comparison. The ASDC tools (as the "Data Explorer") are interfaced with the scientific RDBMS for astronomical catalogs ASDC-Browse (v9.3.5) for storing and selecting information related to sources of interest in the available catalogs. Browse allows selections of data but also simple scientific analyses. The purpose of this document is a technical description of one case of extraction of a scientific plot using Browse from astronomical catalogs, the creation of Aitoff plots of source sky positions as those commonly introduced in ASDC specific catalogs web pages. The creation of some ASDC “recipes” is useful to produce standard products for the ASDC web pages.
