Abstract
This document provides a general overview of the MAORY system with a description of the general architecture and the main characteristics of all sub-systems. A short description of the performance expected is also provided. A more detailed description of the MAORY design is available in the document MAORY Design Report while for all the AO related aspects of MAORY the reader is referred to the MAORY AO Design and Analysis Report. This document can be viewed, together with the Executive Summary and the MAORY System Design Report, as an introductory reading to understand the MAORY instrument
