Title: | VEGAS-SSS: A VST Early-Type GAlaxy Survey: Analysis of Small Stellar System | Authors: | CANTIELLO, Michele | Issue Date: | 2016 | Volume: | The Universe of Digital Sky Surveys: A Meeting to Honour the 70th Birthday of Massimo Capaccioli | Editors: | Napolitano, Nicola R.; Longo, Giuseppe; Marconi, Marcella; Paolillo, Maurizio; Iodice, Enrichetta | Series: | ASTROPHYSICS AND SPACE SCIENCE PROCEEDINGS | Number: | 42 | First Page: | 157 | Abstract: | VEGAS-SSS is a program devoted to study the properties of small stellar systems (SSSs) around bright galaxies, built on the VEGAS survey. At completion, the survey will have collected detailed photometric information of ∼ 100 bright early-type galaxies to study the properties of diffuse light (surface brightness, colours, SBF, etc.) and the clustered light (compact stellar systems) out to previously unreached projected galactocentric radii. VEGAS-SSS will define an accurate and homogeneous dataset that will have an important legacy value for studies of the evolution and transformation processes taking place in galaxies through the fossil information provided by SSSs. | Conference Name: | The Universe of Digital Sky Surveys: a Meeting to Honour the 70th Birthday of Massimo Capaccioli | Conference Place: | Napoli, Italia | Conference Date: | 25-28 November, 2014 | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12386/24811 | URL: | https://link.springer.com/chapter/10.1007%2F978-3-319-19330-4_25 | ISSN: | 1570-6591 | ISBN: | 978-3-319-19329-8 | DOI: | 10.1007/978-3-319-19330-4_25 | Bibcode ADS: | 2016ASSP...42..157C | Fulltext: | open |
