Title: | Measuring Cosmological Parameters with Gamma-Ray Bursts | Authors: | AMATI, LORENZO DELLA VALLE, Massimo |
Issue Date: | 2015 | Volume: | Thirteenth Marcel Grossmann Meeting: On Recent Developments in Theoretical and Experimental General Relativity, Astrophysics and Relativistic Field Theories | Editors: | Rosquist, Kjell;Jantzen, Robert T.; Ruffini, Remo | First Page: | 769 | Abstract: | Gamma-Ray Bursts (GRB) emit in a few dozen of seconds up to ~1054 erg, in terms of isotropic equivalent radiated energy Eiso, therefore they can be observed up to z ~ 10 and appear very promising tools to describe the expansion rate history of the Universe. In this paper we review the use of the Ep,i-Eiso correlation of Gamma-Ray Bursts to measure ΩM. We show that the present data set of GRBs, coupled with the assumption that we live in a flat universe, can provide indipendent evidence, from other probes, that ΩM~0.3. We show that current (e.g., Swift, Fermi/GBM, Konus-WIND) and next GRB experiments (e.g., CALET/GBM, SVOM, Lomonosov/UFFO, LOFT/WFM) will allow us, within a few years, to constrain ΩM and the evolution of dark energy with time, with an accuracy comparable to that currently exhibited by SNe-Ia. | Conference Name: | Thirteenth Marcel Grossmann Meeting: On Recent Developments in Theoretical and Experimental General Relativity, Astrophysics and Relativistic Field Theories | Conference Place: | Stockholm, Sweden | Conference Date: | 1 – 7 July, 2012 | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12386/26110 | URL: | https://www.worldscientific.com/doi/abs/10.1142/9789814623995_0038 | ISBN: | 978-981-4612-14-2 | DOI: | 10.1142/9789814623995_0038 | Bibcode ADS: | 2015mgm..conf..769A | Fulltext: | open |
