Title: | QSO Absorption Lines as a Cosmological Probe: Exploring the Lyman Forest with VLT/UVES | Authors: | BIANCHI, Simone CRISTIANI, Stefano Kim, Tae-Sun D'Odorico, Sandro |

The results presented here are based on recent UVES observations of the spectra of 8 QSOs, covering the Lyα forest at 1.5 < z_{Lyα} < 3.6 with S/N ∼ 40-50 and resolution R ∼ 45000 [1,2]. The absorption lines were fit to the Voigt profiles to derive the three line parameters: absorption redshift, z, the HI column density, N HI in cm-2, and the Doppler parameters, b in km s-1. | Conference Name: | Astronomy, Cosmology and Fundamental Physics | Conference Place: | Garching, Germany | Conference Date: | 4-7 March, 2002 | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12386/34625 | URL: | https://link.springer.com/chapter/10.1007/10857580_35 | ISSN: | 1431-2433 | ISBN: | 3-540-40179-2 | DOI: | 10.1007/10857580_35 | Bibcode ADS: | 2003acfp.conf..417B | Fulltext: | open |
